Hoisting Disabled Popup Event to a New Level

Based in Bristol, Gympanzees is an award winning social enterprise, with a vision that every disabled child and young person in the UK has access to play, friendship and exercise.

Since 2018, Gympanzees has held Summer and Easter pop up events at various locations across Bristol for disabled children and their families. The events are designed for children and parents to enjoy access all areas to interactive play and social facilities.

To show our support for Gympanzee’s unique endeavour, we donated hoisting, free of charge, for the Summer 2018 and Easter 2019 events.

We recently received feedback from Fran Garland, Operations Manager at Gympanzees:

“The continued support from TVM Cheltenham Ltd has been absolutely amazing. We are able to use the hoisting loaned to us to support all those attending the pop up to access equipment they would not otherwise be able to. We use a lot of specialist, inclusive and interactive equipment. However without the hoisting, not all of it is accessible, to those with limited or no mobility.

With the help of your hoisting equipment, we were able to lift a disabled man onto the trampolines. This allowed him and his son to bounce together for the first time.

As well as using the hoisting in the various rooms, we also used them in the changing places. This gave us the chance to provide an additional changing place to the one already at Kingsweston School. Having to wait for the changing places to be available, to provide toileting and medical needs, is not ideal and can sometimes become distressing for the child/young person. Being able to offer more spaces for people to use is super important.
